Asked Questions

Which filter is right for me?

The right filter depends on your filtration needs, existing system, and budget. We offer filters for water coolers, under-bench systems, and benchtop filtration, with options ranging from standard filtration through to finer filtration for enhanced impurity reduction.

If you're unsure which filter is compatible with your system, contact our team on 0800 801 802 or hello@justwater.co.nz and we'll help you find the right filter for your needs.

How often should I replace my filter?

We recommend replacing your water filter every 12 months to help maintain water quality and filter performance.

If you're a Just Water customer, you'll receive a free replacement filter every 12 months as part of your service.

Some filters may have specific replacement recommendations, so it's always best to check the product guidelines for your particular filter.

What do water filters remove?

Our water filters help improve the quality and taste of your drinking water by reducing a range of common impurities, including:

  • Chlorine
  • Sediment and particles
  • Chemicals
  • Bad taste and odours
  • Giardia and Cryptosporidium cysts (on selected filters)
  • Heavy metals and bacteriostatic impurities (on selected filters)

The contaminants reduced will vary depending on the filter you choose. If you're unsure which filter is right for your needs, our team can help recommend the best option.

Can I replace the filter myself?

Yes, most Just Water filters are designed to be quick and easy to replace yourself.

To replace your filter:
1. Turn off the water supply.
2. Release any pressure by turning on the tap.
3. Remove the old filter.
4. Install the new filter and secure it in place.
5. Turn the water back on and flush the system for 2-3 minutes.

If you're unsure which replacement filter you need or would like assistance, contact our team on 0800 801 802 and we'll be happy to help.

What's the difference between a Standard and Advanced Filter Kit?

Both filter kits improve the taste and quality of drinking water, but the Advanced Filter Kit provides finer filtration.

  • Standard Filter Kit: Uses the EPM10C Filter with a 10-micron rating. It helps reduce chlorine, sediment, chemicals, and unwanted tastes and odours.
  • Advanced Filter Kit: Uses the Smart Filter with a 0.5-micron rating. It provides finer filtration and helps reduce chlorine, sediment, chemicals, rust, bad tastes and odours, as well as bacteriostatic impurities and cysts such as giardia and cryptosporidium.

If you're looking for a more affordable everyday filtration solution, the Standard Filter Kit is a great choice. For enhanced filtration and broader impurity reduction, we recommend the Advanced Filter Kit.

Are the filters compatible with all water coolers?

Our filters are designed to be compatible with most of our water coolers. However, it's important to check the specific model requirements for your cooler. If you need assistance determining compatibility, please let us know the model of your cooler, and we can provide more detailed guidance. Call us on 0800 801 802 or email hello@justwater.co.nz

How do I know when my filter needs replacing?

To know when your filter needs replacing, looking for these signs:

1. Reduced Water Flow: Slower flow indicates a clogged filter.
2. Change in Taste or Odour: noticeable difference can signal it's time for a new filter.
3. Cloudy Water: Indicates the filter is no longer effective.
4. Scheduled Replacement: Follow the recommended schedule, typically every 6-12 months depending on the filter type.

Regular checks ensure optimal performance and water quality.

What's the difference between Carbon Block and GAC filter?

Both Carbon Block and GAC (Granular Activated Carbon) filters help improve water quality by reducing chlorine, bad tastes, and odours. The main difference is the level of filtration they provide.

  • Carbon Block Filters provide finer filtration and can reduce smaller particles and a wider range of impurities.
  • GAC Filters use loose carbon granules and are effective at improving taste and odour, while allowing a faster water flow rate.

In general, Carbon Block filters are recommended when finer filtration is required, while GAC filters are a good option for improving taste and reducing common contaminants.

If you're unsure which filter is best for your needs, our team can help you choose the right option for your water cooler or filtration system.

Can I use a Filter Kit to refill Just Water bottles?
